To glue or not to glue, that is the question. Why does speed glue add to the playing quality of a table tennis rubber? Because the molecules of caoutchouc add more tension and increase elasticity, which means more spin and speed. You achieve better control since both surface and sponge become much softer. CATAPULT High Tension Rubber (like freshly glued rubbers) contains very high tension in itself and is very soft. The sharp sound, heavy spin, and high speed are proof of the quality. This rubber is graded from 1-12 and applies only to Butterfly Family. The grading is based on laboratory measurements and tests performed by world champions.

High Tension rubbers have tension built in to the sponge and top-sheet. This helps reduce the amount of energy lost at the point of impact. In essence, it turns the speed of your opponents shot into additional power for you. In short, High Tension rubbers are fast, VERY FAST. The first such rubber was Bryce, introduced in 1997. It is by far the most widely used rubber among Butterfly�s sponsored players including the 2003 World Champion, Werner Schlager(AUT).
